Russ Hess, Sr., founded Chippewa Glass and Mirror in the spring of 1946 — the same year the Cardinals beat the Red Sox to become world champions. Russ started with a small store front on Chippewa. Hence, the name – Chippewa Glass & Mirror. After nine years at that location, he moved the business to our current location at 7430 Gravois Avenue (2 blocks west of Hampton), where we still operate to this day. Yes, that’s right … Chippewa Glass & Mirror is at 7430 Gravois.

Russ Hess, Jr., the second generation, took over in the 80′s after working in the business for over 20 years. Striving to continue customer service with personal attention, Russ updated the business and its equipment to better serve our customers.

Russ Hess, III, and Ryan Hess, the third generation, started working part-time in the family-business in their teens, and are involved in every aspect of the business today, including remodeling our showroom making access easier for our customers, and continually updating our equipment and facilities.
